Anthony´s legacy

“Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. Have a negroni. Have two. Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you – but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride.

Despite what many seems to think this is not a quote by Antony Bourdain. The first version of this text was written June 27, 2021, on a message board’s older thread about Bourdain’s death in 2018. The commenter didn’t attribute the quote to Bourdain.

It was most likely a homage to Bourdain at his 65th Birthday on June 25 as it ended with the words “Happy Bourdain Day. He would have been 65”. That doesn’t mean his homage shouldn’t be taken in and followed. I’ve done it many times. His last choice in life however, you can only do once.
